City Kids at the Country Fair

Well, maybe I flatter ourselves... suburb kids at the country fair might be more accurate! Hood River has the greatest little county fair. Danny and Annelise enjoyed the exotic animals exhibit, which included many reptiles (including monitors and a small alligator) and some mammals, too, like the coatimundi and an African porcupine. The special treat though, were the farm animals. Of course Annelise pointed at all the furry ones and said "da-yee" (doggy). The 4 week old piglets were cute, and we were entertained for a good 30 minutes watching the 4-H kids bathe their animals (including an especially squealy hog). Danny got to hold an award winning chicken... he was a bit nervous. Randy and Danny also went on a couple of tame fair rides. A great afternoon! In these pictures you can see Danny's new, short summer haircut. Also there is a picture of the 4-H girl teaching Danny how to hold the chicken (we snapped a pic of him holding the chicken by himself, but it didn't come out).
