It starts so early!

Danny and I have had some really funny conversations lately.

Yesterday on the way home from school, Danny says, "Tomorrow I want to stay home and pretend I am sick." I was pretty surprised by this (and amused). Of course I was able to talk him out of it by telling him that one of his classmates was bringing in cupcakes for her birthday. He said he didn't want to miss the cupcakes!

Over the last couple of days Danny has been watching Mary Poppins. I replayed it from television in December, and he has been watching it in 15-20 minute increments (without commercials!). I was putting Annelise to bed (Randy was gone) tonight, so I missed the chimney sweep scene. When I went downstairs to get Danny ready for his bath he says, "Mommy, they were dancing dirty!" I said, "Really?" with a puzzled expression on my face. "Yeah, Mommy, they were dirty dancing in the chimney. It was really dirty!" Hmmm... file that one under the wonderful innocence of a 3-year-old!

Speaking of dancing... Danny has been very clear the last couple of months that he likes girls. I'm not sure he likes any girls in particular (although there are two in his class he seems to be pretty fond of), but he has commented about how soft girls' skin is and how nice they smell. Careful there, boy!
